The Six Branches of the Lind Tree

The Lind Tree is composed of six branches. Some are larger and have more leaves, but each is strong, sturdy, and growing.
Each name below is one of the children of Svante and Anna Kajsa. One other son came over from Sweden, Uncle Johnny, as we now call him. Johannes Lind, the oldest son, was born September 25, 1858, at Skarakorgslan, Sweden. He never married. He died February 15, 1908 at Funk, Nebraska, and we remember him fondly, as a man with a great benevolent heart.

Below is a brief description of how each branch grew in earlier years. A notebook with information about each branch was prepared by Virginia Oleson and is shown at each reunion. The Lovisa Branch


Anna Lovisa was the oldest child of Svante and Anna Kajsa’s seven children.

Anna Lovisa Lind was born July 20, 1856 at Vestergotland, Sweden.

Axel Alfred Gustafson was born May 11, 1853 at Ostergotland, Sweden.

Anna Lovisa Lind Gustafson and Axel Alfred Gustafson married June 15, 1874 at Rock Island, Illinois.

Anna Lovisa and Axel had 12 children.

The Thure Branch


Thure Lind was born September 12, 1861 at Skaraborgslan, Sweden, the third child of Svante and Anna Kajsa’s seven children.

Elna Nilsson was born August 1, 1861 at Skane, Sweden.

Thure Lind and Elna Nilsson Lind married April 28, 1887 at Funk, Nebraska.

Thure and Elna had 8 children.

Johanna Mathilda was born on March 23, 1864 at Stora Gryte Harlunda Socken, Sweden.

She was the fourth child of Svante and Anna Kajsa Lind.

Henry Edward Hult was born on June 28, 1857 at New Sweden, Iowa.

Johanna Mathilda Lind and Henry Edward Hult were married on August 18, 1887 at Funk, Nebraska.

Johanna Mathilda and Henry had 8 children.

He was the fifrth child of Svante and Anna Kajsa Lind.

Jennie Christinna Gustafson* was born on May 18, 1872 at St. Charles, Illinois.

Emil and Jennie were married on March 15, 1893 at Funk, Nebraska.

Emil and Jennie had 6 children.



*Jennie Gustafson & C. W. Gustafson were sister and brother, making the Emil children and Augusta children "double" first cousins.

Ida and Carl (C.O.) were married on May 8, 1901 at Phelps County, Nebraska.
